Badminton Programs

 
Playmaker Program
 
Tuesday - Thursday Nights (except Statutory Holidays)
starting at 7:00 pm
Fee: None
Its intent is to promote interaction between social and intermediate players during evening hours, by having the designated Playmaker set up games at the right competitive level for each player. The program will also help introduce new members to other players
and to the Club’s way of using the Play Board. Please note that from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, all six courts are for the exclusive use of the Playmaker Program. From 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm, three courts are reserved for the Playmaker Program and three courts are designated for Open play.
 
Morning Badminton
Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday-Friday - Weekday daytime
                               9:00 am to 12:00 pm
           No extra Fees: 
Social daytime badminton for all levels of players, good exercise and fun competition.
                                        Everyone plays !      
           All six courts.
M-W-F – continuous changing play board after each doubles game, each person rotates up, top person chooses next players. Single games available if space permits.
            (Primarily using feather shuttles.) Each player contributes one at start of play.
T-T – Generally more recreational, often longer playing games usually with friends and arranged partners. Use of the play board if numbers permit. (Nylon shuttles generally used.)
 
                     Flexible new membership options.
All interested persons welcome, seniors, retirees, people with free mornings.

Doubles Ladder

Monday Nights (except Statutory Holidays) – starting at 7:40 pm

Fee: None

The purpose of the Doubles Ladder is to promote more competitive play and to allow players to gauge their badminton proficiency in comparison with others. The doubles ladder is on Monday nights starting in September and goes until the end of March. All six courts are used for this program and play starts at 7:40 pm sharp.

 

Women’s Doubles Ladder

Fee: None
The purpose of the women’s doubles ladder is to promote doubles play for the more competitive players and to allow players to gauge their badminton proficiency in comparison with others. The women’s ladder is on Sunday mornings starting in October and goes until June, Three courts are used for this program and play starts at 9:20 am sharp.
 

Singles Ladder

Fee: None
Singles Box Ladder - runs on an ad-hoc schedule with games being played as arranged between participants.

Evening Adult Clinics

Once a week (Tuesdays) from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Fee: $12 per evening (includes HST) Register with Member Services.
A new stroke will be featured each week. All clinics will include strategy, fitness and technique.

High Performance Adults

Mondays and Wednesdays - 7:00 am to 8:30 am

The RA Badminton Club is pleased to offer a new program for adults. It is open to all club members who want to improve their skills and have a more intensive work out. We will practice all the different shots (clear, drop, drive, serve, smash) the position on the court (singles and doubles), footwork, fitness and strategy.

Elite High Performance Training

Monday to Friday - 6:30 am to 8:30 am
Open to National and International level players.

Family Time Program

Fee: None
Family Time is open to all Adult, Student, Weekend and Junior members.
The intent of the Program is to provide playing opportunities for Adult members and their children who must also be members. Times set aside for this are Saturdays from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm and Sundays from 7:00 am to Noon. Junior members under the age of 12 must be
accompanied by an Adult member. Court times are shared with other members who may not be playing with Juniors. If people are waiting to play, the use of the Play Board is mandatory to provide equal playing opportunities to everyone.
                         

Badminton Camp

The RA’s badminton Camp is designed for persons ages 6 through 14 and are open to Club members as well as the general public.  (holiday sport camps)
The club hosts 9 summer sessions commencing after school ends in June. Information on the 2016 program will be available by February 1, 2016.
