Spring 2012

Ball Hockey… a game for everyone!

Ball Hockey

The RA is well known for its great league sports… We are often praised for the high calibre of play, well organized leagues and outstanding facilities with all the amenities.  Building on this solid foundation, the RA launched the Spring Ball Hockey League and after completing the second season last spring, is poised to expand again next year!

The key to the success is the fantastic indoor ball hockey arena.  “ We absolutely love the size of the playing area you use and, with accredited referees and an expansion to 10 or 12 teams, yours could be the best ball hockey league in the city.” said one of the teams from the 2011 season.

“Our goal to continue is to improve the league every year and grow it into something special.” says Pat Coyne, Manager, League Operations.  There is no reason that this spring time program cannot reach 180 players this season. As this league grows, so will its participants and the skill level that comes with it.  With both a Men’s League and a Co-ed House League, there is something for everyone.

Both Pat Coyne and Mark Fish, Coordinator, League Operations, are dedicated to expanding the Men’s League to two divisions of play and increasing participation in the Thursday Night Co-ed House League to 72 players!

With the season beginning the week of April 23, they are on the hunt now to fill the programs!  Maybe you are a veteran or beginner looking for a fun way to get exercise. We can accommodate anyone with an interest for the game, and everyone who loves the game.

Here are some details:
Men’s league: Division A – Wednesday: 6:00, 7:00 & 8:00pm games
  Division B – Tuesday:    6:00, 7:00 & 8:00pm games
Fee: $ 850 per team - includes RA membership
Co-ed House League: Thursday: 6:00, 7:00 & 8:00pm games
  Fee: $ 100 per player

All games are played at the RA Centre. All amenities, such as locker rooms, towel service and the Fieldhouse Bar & Grill for refreshments right after the game make this the perfect location. We want every single player to have a positive and fun ball hockey experience!
