2017-2018 Tuesday Evening Adult Classes

The RA Badminton Club is offering a series of focus classes for adults (16+) that will help your techniquesand strategies involved in each event in badminton; singles, doubles and mixed.  Players will be grouped

based on playing level and shuttlecock type (plastic or feather), as assessed by the head coach.

Each session consist of six classes: ONE hour of training and FOUR hours of court access, 

where you can practice the new techniques or strategies within RA Centre’s playmaker program.

  The focus of session TWO is to expand on a solid foundation of skills into more advanced techniques.  Offensive and defensive footwork, with a focus on racquet awareness and foot coordination will be incorporated in each class.

February 20th is Foamy Friday @ RA Badminton Club

On Friday February 20th, from 7 to 10 pm, Foamy Friday will take place at the RA Badminton Club. Bar Service will be set up in the lounge area with beer, wine and pop available to participants. This event is open to members (18 years of age and older) and up to one guest per member.

Admission is $3 per member and $6 for a guest and includes a complimentary drink.

The first 50 paid entrants will also receive a gift bag. The courts will be closed for regular play as there will be games and activities set up for participants.

2015 Nationals Underway in Gatineau

The 2015 Yonex Canadian Nationals run from Wednesday February 4th to Saturday February 7th at the Gatineau Sports Centre, 850 Boulevard de la Gappe (directions)

Admission for spectators is free Wednesday through Friday and $5 per person for finals on Saturday.

2014 Christmas Doubles Tournament + Dinner

The RABC Christmas Doubles Tournament will be held on our courts December 6th and 7th, 2014.  The tournament is open to all members 16 years of age and older (guests are welcome too!) and features men's, women's and mixed doubles in an A-B-C-D format.

Men's and Women's Doubles start Saturday December 6th at 9am and 11am respectively.
Mixed Doubles will start Sunday, December 7th at 10am.

Entry fee is $25 for members which includes tournament play in 1 or 2 events and Saturday Night Dinner.  $40 for guests for tournament and dinner or $25 for dinner only.                         Christmas_Adult_doubles_2014          

Important:  If you need a partner let Mike Bitten know and he will endeavor to find you a match.

 

RABC Members win Gold at Canada 55+ Games

The RA Badminton Club's Roger Huestis and Shirley Birnboim will be traveling to Alberta from August 27th to 30th to take part in the Badminton competition at the 2014 Canada 55+ Games.

The Canada 55+ Games, formerly known as the Canada Senior Games, is a national multi-sport competition held every two years.  Along with Badminton, the Games feature competition in 24 different events as varied as bridge, track & field and hockey.

Combine age for each doubles team should be at 60 minimum.

Commonwealth Games Exhibition Fundraiser - Friday, June 13, 2014

Our own Andrew D’Souza will be proudly representing Canada at the Commonwealth Games this summer in Glasgow, Scotland! This trip is self-funded, so in order to raise funds to cover the costs of his travel, he will be holding an exhibition at the RA Centre on Friday, June 13th at 7:00pm.

Please come out to enjoy the badminton exhibition and support a talented young player from Ottawa!

Age 13+: $15/ticket
Age 12 and under: $10/ticket
Location: RA Centre – East Wing (2451 Riverside Dr. Ottawa, Ontario)
Doors open at 6:30 pm, exhibition starts at 7:00 pm.
