What does this mean for RA Clubs and programs? Read more...
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you, our members, for creating the wonderful community that we are all proud to be part of. We are looking forward to seeing each and every one of you back at the RA in the near future.
The RA Centre is adapting to meet the new demands of our “new normal”. In order to provide a safe and secure environment, we need to make changes, such as building and program modifications, signage, cleaning products and more, all of which require money and resources.
We are asking for your help – You can make a difference!
We have launched a new campaign called "The Strength of our People, the Power of our Community" so that the RA can ensure a safe and welcoming space for you to enjoy your social and physical activities. We are looking for your support through cash gifts, membership credit and free materials or labour. We hope that you can help us make it a success by donating and by sharing this campaign with your network of friends and colleagues. Together we are Stronger.
As a not-for-profit operating in these extraordinary times under these extraordinary conditions we are extremely grateful for our RA community of caring, talented and diverse individuals who are ready and willing to help. To the many members who have already contributed to our future by forgiving the interruption in membership and gifting your credit or refund to the RA – THANK YOU!
The RA is much more than bricks and mortar. It is a strong, vibrant community build on friendship, inclusiveness, health and wellness through the pursuit of sport and recreation. Despite numerous challenges over the years, it is thanks to the many members like you that we continue to build this unique Ottawa-based legacy.
Now, the RA faces perhaps the toughest challenge in its 80-year history. In these extraordinarily challenging times we are all reminded of the importance of friends, family and community. It’s also a reminder that without the RA, our lives are more socially distant, less connected. We have been truly humbled and amazed by the many calls of support and offers of help we have received from our dedicated members. Your willingness to help and your trust in us mean more than you can imagine.
As we work towards becoming the “go to” hub in the National Capital Region in the pursuit of lifelong sport, recreation and wellness, your support as part of “The Strength of our People, the Power of our Community” will ensure we continue towards this important outcome. Covid-19 has damaged our connections, our health and our community. The RA may change programs, processes or our look, but we will always be guided by our values offering the community a place to grow, be active and live socially. We will embrace a new future, built on core values of Respect Others, Include Everyone, Have Fun, Stay Healthy, Give Back, and Stronger Together. These values remain strong and true however our operations need a kickstart, that’s where you come in.
As a contributor to “The Strength of our People, the Power of our Community” you will ensure that we are on track, strong enough to meet the challenges in front of us.
You can make a difference!
Members made a difference in 2016 with the RevitAlization Campaign, raising $170,000 to invest in capital projects within the RA, and you can make a difference again in 2020. Our members, Board and staff are stronger together and always rise to the challenge!
As the RA works to re-open, many areas of the building require improvements to support your member experience. The Covid-19 crisis has created some very difficult and extraordinary challenges requiring changes to minimize the risk to members, visitors and staff. We must adapt our physical spaces to reduce common touch areas and encourage physical distancing, implement Covid-wise cleaning procedures, adopt new sports and activity protocols and rebuild membership and program activity at a time when not everyone will be comfortable returning to play.
How to make a difference!
We are asking members, stakeholders and supporters to offer support of cash, materials or labour to improve and ensure the building is delivering on the communities’ social experiences.
You can support us by directly contributing membership credits for courses, clubs and team fees, renewing your membership now (even if you’re not comfortable to return quite yet), and helping to recruit members. Please contact Amanda Romozzi, Senior Manager, Membership & Club Services at 613-736-6228 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
You can also support us by providing us names of community partners you know who would be interested in supporting the RA. Our professional staff will then reach out and engage with these recommended partners.
