RA High Performance Badminton athletes excel in fierce competition!
The RA Centre’s High Performance Badminton athletes have shown resilience, skill and determination in their recent competitions!
Notably, our junior players delivered impressive performances against adult competitors at the ‘Aces 5 Adulte’ in Longeuil.
Zeping Yu and Siqi Zhang (left) dominated the competition, winning the Men’s Doubles B title! Zhang also participated in Men’s Singles A, demonstrating high level play and reaching the semi-finals. Haihan Sun competed with passion and resilience, advancing to the semi-finals in Men’s Singles C. Zimo Wu & Zihan Wu displayed excellent teamwork, advancing to the semifinals in Mixed Doubles C and proving their ability to compete at a high level. Zimo Wu showed great determination and perseverance winning the Women’s Singles C consolation title.
“Competing in an adult tournament, these juniors proved they can rise to the challenge and perform at a high level,” says Javier Montes, Assistant Badminton Professional at the RA. “Their success is a testament to their dedication and hard work.”
Varvara Iakutova delivered an outstanding performance at the ‘Victor Ontario Junior B’, held at the Markham Pan Am Centre. Competing against strong opponents, Iakutova showcased excellent tactical play and consistency to claim the Girls’ Doubles title.
“This achievement reflects her dedication, hard work, and ability to perform under pressure,” reflects Montes.
The RA is also proud to announce that two junior players, Michael Qu and Jaylen Sze, (right) won the ‘Yonex Quebec Provincial U19 BD’ championship last weekend at Pierrefonds representing Ottawa! Keep up the good work!
