Joanna & Anatoly - A Wedding in the Park For almost 20 years, Algonquin Provincial Park has been Joanna and Anatoly’s “happy place.” Since joining the RA Canoe Camping Club over a decade ago, they’ve shared countless adventures – navigating winding rivers, crossing challenging portages, and weathering every storm that came their way. These experiences not only deepened their bond with one another, but strengthened their connection to the community around them. After years of paddling side by side, the time felt right to take the next step. What better way to celebrate their relationship than with a wedding in the Park? And so, on Friday, July 11, it became official. Their knot was tied at Tea Lake – officiated by Reverent J.T. H. and coordinated by Karen H. from the RA Canoe Camping Club, who had graciously worked it into the trip schedule. “We are so grateful – the symbolism of our wedding fits perfectly into our lives,” reflects Joanna. “We want to remember this moment for the rest of our travels on this precious planet.” Though they had been paddling together long before joining the Club, their involvement in group trips and shared adventures has only brought them closer. Joanna and Anatoly have gained more than just memories – they’ve developed a true appreciation for the art of resourcefulness. From repairing gear to cooking creative meals with dehydrated ingredients, each trip offered lessons in resilience and self-sufficiency. But perhaps more impactful than any skill was the wisdom shared around the fire. Each campsite became a circle of stories; trip tales, wildlife encounters, and decades-old memories passed down by seasoned members. For Joanna and Anatoly, those evenings were a reminder that every paddler in the Club carries a story – and every story deepens the roots of a remarkable community. “You would be amazed just how much you can learn from the people around you,” comments Joanna. “You’ll never stop learning new things.” For Joanna and Anatoly, the RA Canoe Camping Club has become more than just a group. It’s a family – one chosen through a shared heart of adventure and love for the great outdoors. Their wedding was not only a celebration of love, but a moment that reflected the genuine connection, generosity, and adventure that brought them together in the first place.
