Sunday, July 2 to Sunday, August 27, 2023 This outdoor facility offers 2 pools. The large pool is a heated L-shaped pool with a diving section (25m in length, 3.5ft at shallow end and 16.5ft at the deep end) and the small pool is a teaching pool (14m in length with a constant depth of 3.5 feet). The spacious pool deck is equipped with shady awnings, lounge chairs and picnic tables. An outstanding team of aquatics professionals lead programs and oversee the operations. All of this makes the RA outdoor pool the best place in Ottawa to spend a sunny afternoon. |

Open Swim: An unstructured swim time open to all ages. All children 11 years and under must be accompanied by a parent/guardian or responsible adult. Swim safety & admission requirements apply.
Lane Swim: Minimum age of 18 years. Continuous lap swimming (must demonstrate their ability to swim 25M uninterrupted).
AquaFIT
AquaFIT - July 3 - August 26, 2023
This multi-level workout offers both cardiovascular and muscle conditioning using the water as gentle resistance. AquaFIT is designed to enhance your muscle and joint movement, capacity for strength and endurance, range of motion and flexibility. It’s a fabulous workout for all level of participation, particularly for participants seeking an exercise program that will help relieve the painful symptoms of chronic pain syndrome, arthritis chronic fatigue, fibromaylgia, etc. Minimum age of 18 years.
Classes occur on Mondays & Wednesdays from 5:00-5:50pm and Saturdays from 12:00-12:50pm starting July 3 and ending August 26.

Season passes to the RA Outdoor Pool will be on sale at the RA's Member Services desk in the East Wing. Season passes get you access to open swims, lane swims and AquaFIT classes.

General Pool Rules
- Proper swim attire is required.
- Snacks and non-alcoholic beverages are permitted as RA Food Services are currently not available.
- Glass or breakable items are NOT permitted.
- Alcohol is NOT permitted.
- Anyone not toilet trained must wear water resistant swimwear to prevent contamination of the pool. Cloth or disposable diapers are not accepted.
- Persons with open cuts, sores, bandages, are NOT permitted in the pool.
- Animals are not allowed in pool area, with the exception of guide dogs.
- Due to limited numbers of loungers, they are available on a first come first serve basis. If you’re not using a lounger, please leave it free for someone else to use.

Swim Safety & Admission Requirements
Swim Test: A swim test may be administered by the Lifeguards when swimming ability is in question. In order to access the large pool unaccompanied, the candidate must swim 25m of the pool without touching the bottom or sides of the pool and must be comfortable putting their face in the water. Lifeguards have the discretion to revoke access to the large pool if results of the swim test pose a safety risk.
High Risk Participants: High risk participants are defined as those who have medical conditions or illness that may put them at risk in an aquatic environment and those who are unable to control behaviour and impulses require direct supervision at the aquatic facility. High risk participants require a parent/ guardian ratio of 1:1
Serious Medical Conditions: Any person with a serious medical condition should be accompanied by a person who is knowledgeable of their condition and responsible for their direct supervision.

- No cancellations. No refunds, credits or rainchecks will be issued.
- All fees apply to RA members and non-members.
- Please check the pool schedule to see which pools (large or small) are available for open swim times.
Inclement Weather
If the weather forecasts suggest the possibility of inclement weather, our operational schedule may change. RA management may delay the pool’s opening, close the pool early, or make other changes to the posted pool schedule when member and guest safety or other operational concerns make it necessary to do so.
In the event of visible lightening or audible thunder all pool guests will be cleared from the water as a safety measure. The pools will remain closed for 30 minutes after the last sounding of thunder and/or visual observation of lightning.
The pools will not be closed during light to mild rain. The pools will be cleared any time sufficient rainfall is occurring to obscure the bottom of the pool which results in an unsafe swimming environment. Pools will remain closed until visibility to the bottom of the pool reaches a safe level.

How to Access the RA Outdoor Pool
Park in the RA's WEST parking lot (Closest to Bronson Avenue) and use the main entrance at the West Wing. Enter through the sliding glass doors (in front of the temporary white structure), walk straight ahead, directly through the lobby (towards the stairwell) and down the hall to the left. Continue around the corner to the right and up the steps at your left out to the pool enclosure.
