Local sport advocate, the Ottawa Sport Council to join the House of Sport Community

(Ottawa, ON) - The RA, a local not-for-profit, is pleased to announce that the Ottawa Sport Council is joining the House of Sport project. The Ottawa Sport Council acts as the united voice for sport in the city. Its mission is to facilitate advocacy and growth for all community sport organizations. “Although sport enriches our lives in countless ways, many of us get involved simply because it is fun to do so,” explains Marcia Morris, Executive Director, Ottawa Sport Council. In fostering that, the Ottawa Sport Council’s actions are guided by the belief that sport should be inclusive, ethical, innovative, and respectful. “Ottawa’s sport community is a diverse network of clubs, organizations and associations—each with unique goals and challenges. The Ottawa Sport Council is committed to helping this community achieve their goals and overcome their challenges. In doing so, the Ottawa Sport Council partners with various organizations to encourage growth and best practices in community sport,” Ms. Morris elaborates. “By partnering with the House of Sport, the Ottawa Sport Council will be able to continue delivering on our mandate, but also leverage opportunities to connect and collaborate with National and local sport organizations.”

“This desire to team up with like-minded organizations epitomizes the creative thinking around the House of Sport project,” comments Tosha Rhodenizer, RA Chief Executive Officer. “The House of Sport will create new platforms for sport development in a unique and innovative environment,” shares Ms. Rhodenizer. “Increased development will benefit our House of Sport partners, our community and position the RA to further strengthen our sport and recreation offerings.”

The House of Sport, a first of its kind design in Canada, will offer National (NSO) and Multi-Sport (MSO) organizations the opportunity to house their national offices in a feature rich environment designed for collaboration, innovation and leveraging efficiencies. The House of Sport will offer organizations an open concept community, but also support them with a wide range of services, and meeting rooms, leveraging economies of scale to drive down costs. This is on top of the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded organizations and access health and wellness opportunities for staff members.
