SUNDAY WOMEN’S LADDER PROGRAM Sunday mornings | 11:00am to 1:00pm The Sunday Women's ladder promotes competitive play and allows players to gauge their proficiency in comparison to others. Participants move up or down the ladder based on their weekly performance. Participants registering must be at the intermediate-advanced skill level. Feather bird players only. No drop ins, registration only. Please note: All participants in the Women's Ladder must be 18 years or older. FALL Session: September 24 to December 10, 2023 FEE: RA Member & Non Member - $130 SUNDAY MEN’S LADDER PROGRAM Sunday afternoons | 1:00pm to 3:00pm New this season! Our intermediate morning membership is great for anyone looking to play a higher level of Badminton with skill levels ranging from intermediate to advance. -- AFTERNOON BADMINTON MEMBERSHIP Great membership for intermediate and advanced players who want to improve their Badminton skills through practice drills and pre-arranged games. Matches are more competitive in nature and can be both doubles and singles play. This program is best played when joining with a training partner. INTERMEDIATE / ADVANCED EVENING BADMINTON MEMBERSHIP Great evening membership for competitive tournament players interested in a more challenging games. This program uses the play board to create 20 minutes rotating matches. A dedicated Monday/Wednesday volunteer committee has been created to focus on fair play, fair use of the play board, equitable playtime and challenging games each evening. Individuals must be of the intermediate/advance skill level to register for this membership. If you are unsure if your skill level will suit this time please reach out to our Badminton Professional for additional information or an assessment. Individuals who do not meet the required skill level will be provided a full refund of registration and will work with the Badminton Professional to find a more suitable time-slot. SATURDAY FUNDAMENTAL TRAINING Ages 8-17 - RABC's Junior FUNdamental Training is designed to advance junior members beyond the recreational level. This program runs September 9, 2023 to April 13, 2024. Try outs are not required. Group 1 – Developmental players ages 8-11 years Saturdays, 9:00-10:00 am FEE: $620 Group 2 – Developmental players ages 12-14 years Saturdays, 10:00-11:00 am FEE: $620 Group 3 – Developmental players ages 13-17 years Saturdays 11:00 am-12:00 pm FEE: $620 JUNIOR HIGH PERFORMANCE TRAINING 2022-23 Season Try-outs for the HP program took place in May. We are excited to welcome back many of our high performing athletes for another amazing season. Ages 8-21 - RABC’s Junior High performance Training is designed for advanced junior members at the District, Provincial or National level. Mike bitten - head professional
Mike Bitten – Head Professional mbitten@racentre.com The RA Centre’s Badminton Professional, Mike Bitten, was a 1986 and 1990 Commonwealth Games Silver medalist and competed in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. He has won a record eight Canadian Men’s Doubles championships in his career and was ranked 12th in the world in 1992. Apart from his playing abilities, Bitten has an extensive background in coaching and is certified as a Level 3 coach by the Coaching Association of Canada. Javier Montes - Coach
Javier Montes - Coach jmontes@racentre.com Javier graduated from the Physical Education and Sport Program at the University of Granada (Spain) in 2003, with a specialization in racquets sports, and more specifically in Badminton. Since then, he has been working with kids and adults of all levels. As a player, under the supervision of Zhang Xiaoping (national Spanish team coach) he won many provincial titles and he was part of the Spanish National Team, playing at both the national and international level. Javier is a Certified Badminton Coach in both Europe and Canada. He worked as an Assistant Coach at the Provincial Badminton Training Centre in Granada for 5 years, and he has been working at the RA Centre with our High Performance Junior Group for the past years. He is known for creating champions! He has all the experience, abilities and enthusiasm that you need to develop your skills in badminton, from the beginner to the international level. With Javier as a coach, you will not only improve your game, but you will also have a great time on the court and you’ll want to come back for more! |
