RA Duplicate Bridge Club - Update
Dear RA Duplicate Bridge Community;
As you are aware, the RA and your RA Duplicate Bridge Club Council have spent many hours together this past year planning to bring the Club back to the RA after programs were suspended in 2020 due to the pandemic. This Fall, the RA and the RADBC re-launched games on Thursday afternoons to complement the schedule of sanctioned play currently available in person and on-line in the Ottawa duplicate bridge community. Unfortunately, we have not seen players return as we had hoped, and due to insufficient attendance over the last three Thursdays (September 14, 21 & 28), the RA has made the difficult decision to close the RA Duplicate Bridge Club.
While we are sad to see the end of an era, we are reassured that our members have found a space where they can continue to enjoy the game they love and benefit from the social connections they value.
As we met and discussed RADBC programming at the RA, we collectively agreed that in the Ottawa duplicate bridge community, there is a gap in offerings geared to the new or beginner player. In order to help more individuals discover duplicate bridge, the RA will continue to offer Learn-to-Play Duplicate Bridge classes. In addition, we are looking to offer social, recreational unsanctioned duplicate bridge games if we gauge there is sufficient interest. Please click here to fill out a short form to indicate your interest in these recreational social duplicate bridge programs or if you know someone who might be interested please pass this along.
We would like to thank your current RADBC Club Council and the many representatives who served before them, the Directors and of course our members who have been involved in the RA Duplicate Bridge Club and supported the RA over the years.
