This information may be updated at any time by you through PlayRA. Please note there is a 250 character limit in the required fields. drop-off & pick-up locations
Unexpectedly running late for morning drop-off or picking-up early?
  • Should you arrive at the RA for Morning drop-off after 9am or for Afternoon pick-up before 4pm, please stop by the Camp office in the East Wing, across from Guest Services.

Unexpectedly running late for afternoon pick-up?
  • If you are running late to Afternoon Pick-up due to traffic or other unforeseen circumstances any children still in our care after 4:30pm will be brought to the extended care pick-up location (West Gym).

For everyone's safety
  • Drop-off and pick-up times are extremely busy. Please PARK in a parking spot in a parking lot.
  • Do not stop or park along the laneway in front of the RA's East entrance. This is a fire lane and must remain clear at all times. Parking here blocks visibility for drivers and cyclists and creates serious safety risks.
  • Avoid making a left turn from the West Entrance of the RA Centre, as it can be unsafe during busy times.
  • We strongly encourage using the East entrance off Data Centre Road, where a dedicated left-turn light allows for a much safer approach to Riverside.

Did you sign up for extended care (early or late)?
  • Your drop-off and/or pick-up location is the West Gym
  • Walk towards the RA's main entrance which is tucked behind the temporary white structure (West Gym) in front of the building. The entrance to the Gym faces the RA Centre and is accessed through the covered walkway (do not use the back doors as these are emergency exits only).

what camper should bring daily
All items should fit in your child’s backpack and be labelled.

Please make sure your child wears running shoes (please no sandals or flip flops) and brings the following each day to camp:
  • Running shoes
  • Hat
  • Appropriate attire – for both weather purposes and active activities
  • Sunscreen (counselors will remind children to re-apply during snack times)
  • For young children, a change of clothes - just in case
  • Refillable water bottle
  • Nut-Free Lunch and three (3) healthy snacks (do not send products with peanuts or nuts listed on label). Our campers do not have access to a refrigerator or a microwave while at camp, so please pack accordingly.
  • Daily swim; pack a bathing suit, towel and plastic bag for wet items, footwear to be worn to & from the pool and goggles (optional)
  • Footwear to be worn for water play

Please make sure your child does NOT bring the following to camp:
  • Valuables
    • This includes but is not limited to cell phones, tablets, collectibles, trading cards, toys, plushies or games etc.
  • Chewing Gum
    • Safety first! Chewing gum can be a choking hazard, especially during games, running, or other fun activities.
    • Keeping camp clean. Gum can be tricky to clean up if it ends up on the ground, furniture, or equipment.

In addition to the items above, please pack these extra items for the following specialty camps:
  • Archery Camp
Hair elastic (for safety reasons long hair must be tied back)
*Campers should not wear scarves, loose fitting shirts or sweaters with strings that may become caught on the bow.

  • AquaCamp - Junior & Senior
    Extra swimsuit & towel (*)
    Water shirt (recommended*)
Footwear to be worn to & from the pool (flip flops)
    Warm layers (recommended*)
    * We recommend more than one towel and swimsuit as campers are in and out of the pool throughout the day and a water shirt because there is very little shade when in the outdoor pool. AquaCampers should also bring warm layers should the weather be on cool side.

  • Badminton & Pickleball Camps
    Athletic footwear with non-marking soles

  • Soccer Camp
    Shin guards and Cleats (recommended)
    A protective sun shirt (recommended)
other camp information
AIR QUALITY – Your child’s health and safety are a priority, and we understand children are among the more vulnerable demographic affected by poor air quality. The RA will closely monitor the Ontario Government Air Quality Health Index and is committed to reducing strenuous outdoor activities, reduce prolonged exposure or remain indoors if air quality levels deteriorate to moderate and high-risk levels.

IF YOUR CHILD IS UNABLE TO ATTEND CAMP - Please notify the camp staff any day that your child will not be attending camp. A message can be left on the camp phone line at 613-913-7215 or a note can be sent to us by email to [email protected]. Please DO NOT send your child to camp if they are sick or not feeling well.

VISITING YOUR CHILD AT CAMP - Regardless of the relationship to a child, parents, guardians, siblings, family, friends etc. are not permitted to enter any of our camp rooms or space occupied by campers. Camp staff will bring children to the parent or guardian upon request. All visitors must first go to the Camp Office located in the RA's East Wing where they will be reunited.

MEDICATIONS - We ask that you talk to the Camp Supervisor when you drop off your child regarding your child’s medication. Required medication must be placed in a Ziploc bag and clearly labeled with both the child’s name, dosage, and any specific storage information.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES – Your child’s safety is our number one priority. Our daily activities are designed with safety in mind however we do know that “minor accidents can happen”. As such, counsellors carry fanny pack first aid kits allowing them to deal with the small bumps and bruises on the spot. Senior camp staff and counsellors are certified in first aid and CPR. In the unlikely event of a serious injury, you will be contacted immediately at the contact information that we have on file.

BEHAVIOUR EXPECTATION – RA Camps have behaviour guidelines that are grounded in the RA’s Code of Ethics. Staff will use approaches that are positive, supportive, consistent, proactive and based on logical consequences. Disruptive behaviour will be handled in a fair and consistent manner using progressive behaviour management strategies. These rules are reviewed with the campers each day before the start of camp. Disrespectful behaviour, foul or hurtful language and violence will not be tolerated. The Association reserves the right to withdraw your child from camp should their behaviour jeopardize safety of themselves, other campers, staff, or property.

SUN & WATER SMART - Many of our camp programs include swimming in the RA’s outdoor pools. Swimming is not only fun but builds important skills, so we wish for campers to participate in this activity. Although the pool is supervised by trained and qualified lifeguards, all campers must adhere to lifejacket requirements and the pool swim test assessment with respect to access to the various sections of the pool (deep water vs shallow). Campers ages 4 to 7 must wear lifejackets at all times regardless of individual swimming abilities. Campers ages 8 and older will participate in a weekly swim assessment (each and every week) to determine if they can enter the deep end and are exempted from wearing a lifejacket. The RA has a supply of personal flotation devices available for use by any camper at any time. If you have concerns about your child’s swimming abilities, please talk to the counsellor upon drop off. Hats, shirts, sunscreen are required for campers to protect themselves from the effects of the sun. We also encourage those campers registered in the aquatics camps to wear a protective sun/swim shirt. Camp staff will assist our younger campers to apply sunscreen. Please ensure to send a water bottle with your child. Your child will be encouraged to drink a full bottle of water at least twice per day.

FRIEND REQUESTS - Should you wish to request that your child be grouped with their friend(s) registered in the same camp program, please contact the camp supervisor at camps@racentre.com no later than the Thursday prior to the first day of camp.

PRIVACY POLICY - Your privacy is important to the RA. We are dedicated to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of all your personal information. We ask for personal information to be able to serve you better. The RA’s Privacy Policy complies with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act of Canada. Further information is available by viewing our policy online at www.racentre.com.

LUNCH & SNACKS -Here are some helpful suggestions regarding food while at camp.
  • All our camps involve physical activity so it is important to provide lunch and snacks that are nutritious and that will not spoil.
  • Parents and children need to be mindful of any products containing nuts when it comes to lunches and snacks. Do not send products with peanuts or nuts listed on label. Parents of children, who in the past have suffered any anaphylactic reaction to foods or insect bites, need to provide us with this information and the preferred medical action plan.
  • Remember to send refillable water bottle.
  • We will be encouraging all campers to drink at least two bottles of water per day. If your child will have problems with this, please note your concerns with your child’s counsellor on the first day of the session.
  • Please refrain from bringing birthday snacks or shared food for others as NO OUTSIDE FOOD is to be shared with campers.
  • Our campers do not have access to a refrigerator or a microwave while at camp, so please pack accordingly.

inclusion & accessiblity
The RA strives to offer programs which are welcoming to all participants. We are strongly committed to working with families to support and accommodate diverse needs and abilities to ensure each child is able to integrate into the program, feel included, supported and ultimately to have an unforgettable time! We ask that parents connect with us before registering if your child may require additional support so we can explore together how we can accommodate them to the best of our ability with the available resources we have in place.

At the same time, the safety and wellbeing of all campers and staff is our top priority. Therefore, behaviours that are harmful to others will not be tolerated. If such behaviours occur and cannot be safely managed, it may be necessary to withdraw the child from the remainder of the camp week.
