Judo

Judo is a Japanese martial art consisting of throws, hold-downs (similar to wrestling), chokes and arm-locks. It is also an Olympic sport (developed by Jigoro Kano) as a safer alternative to Ju-Jutsu (self-defense). While Judo is a grappling sport, Kano developed Judo primarily as a tool with which to promote moral values and positive character development so that they might become better citizens.

The RA Judo Club is focused on using the sport of Judo to teach grappling and combat, while at the same time emphasizing values such as;

  - Respect
  - Mutual welfare
  - Self-discipline
  - Work ethic.

Join RA Judo

When you join an RA Club you are joining our not-for-profit Association. Active Club Members enjoy the benefits and privileges of an Association Membership for the duration of their Club membership.
Adult Membership
Membership to the Judo club runs from September 2022 to August 2023, and includes instruction two evenings per week at the recreational level, from beginner to black belt. Beginners are welcome to join the club at any time, and receive instruction from our coaches who are certified black belts and possess National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) qualifications.

We value and celebrate equity, diversity, and inclusion amongst our members, and strive to create a training environment in which people are encouraged to hone their fighting skills, get in shape, and improve their self discipline and self-esteem.
All students are required to belong to Judo Ontario and Judo Canada, the governing bodies for the sport of Judo in Canada. Information on yearly membership rates and on how to register will be provided at the first class. Registration information is also available at the Judo Ontario website at www.judoontario.ca/website_registration/rates.
