​Welcome to the Members section of the RA Gun Club (RAGC). ​RA Gun Club volunteers maintain this section on the website. Here, you will find information surrounding the Club Council, safety rules and schedule information.

Please refer to the Range Booking information for available shooting times and complete details including booking procedures and step-by-step instructions on how to reserve your session through the RA's on-line registration system (PlayRA).

Important Notes - Please read
Junior Members
  1. New Junior members must attend a Tuesday evening Rifle Safety Course on one of the designated Tuesday nights before they can participate in the Sunday program; and
  2. Returning Juniors may come to the Sunday Junior times without this prerequisite if they have completed the internal rifle safety course within the past 2 years.  Returning members must re-take the safety course if they have not been an active member in the past 2 years.
HANDGUN Activities Definitions & ISSF High Performance times
Handgun Activities Definitions
  • Handgun – General Handgun, all allowed calibers; normally 10 min relays.
  • ISSF Handgun – ISSF Standard Pistol and Centre fire Pistol relays will be run. ISSF shooting is done one handed. Calibers include .22lr – .38 (no magnum/high power loads). 9mm shot one handed will be allowed. 
    Note: all club members are welcome to participate. For more details contact Soren Sorenson.
  • RTS Program - The ISSF time slot can be used to shoot for Crest awards through the SFC RTS program. See the posters at the range for program details or check SFC. Contact the Handugn RTS Coordinator, Benoit Deschaies, at bdeshaies@yahoo.com or the Rifle RTS Coodinator, Gordon Smith.
  • Fifty-Meter Pistol (or Free Pistol) – Metro Toronto Free Pistol League Match night. Free pistol is an ISSF event and uses a single shot .22 caliber pistol and very challenging targets. For more information contact Soren Sorenson.
  • Sunday Air Gun – Subject to Range Officer (RO) availability; members interested in participating should contact Soren Sorenson.
  • Ottawa Valley Pistol League (OVPL) Night - These nights run ISSF half courses for each of Standard Pistol and Center-fire for practice for the League matches. All team members (and potential team members) are encouraged to come out to train. New members interested in joining the team can contact Benoit Deschaies.
    When the calendar indicates “OVPL Match” – these are closed nights as it is a home competition with a visiting area club. 
    Note: all club members are welcome to join the RA OVPL team.
  • ISSF High Performance Training – High Performance athletes training for Provincial, National, and International ISSF competitions. For more information contact Soren Sorenson.
  • IPSC Handgun – Action shooting sport; Come out on Saturday at 4:30pm, if you want to try it out. Contact Remi Doucet.
  • Intro to IPSC - Introduction to IPSC action shooting by use of IPSC targets at different distances and shooting techniques for fast accurate shot placement on multiple targets. This is intended for Hand Gun members that do not have their Black Badge qualification and are new to this kind of shooting discipline. Contact Bob Gowie.

ISSF High Performance times 

Wednesdays - 5pm to 7pm  &   Saturdays - 12pm to 3 pm
The High Performance time slot is defined as being solely intended for those shooters who are actively seeking to improve their abilities in the ISSF (International Sport Shooting Federation is the governing body for Olympic style target shooting) events and have a membership in either their a provincial sports organization (example, CSSA, or FTQ) or national sports organization, the Shooting Federation of Canada (SFC); OR, represent the RAGC in local competitions, specifically the Ottawa Valley Pistol League.

Positions will be allocated for ISSF training time slot based on the following priorities:
  1. SFC or CSSA/FQT registered athletes training for International-National-Provincial level ISSF competitions (examples: Nationals, World Cups, Major Games, CISM championships, CAGP, LSBA, Winter Wrap-up, and Provincials);
  2. SFC or CSSA/FQT registered Free and Air pistol shooters preparing for Regional or Club level ISSF competitions (NCRRA, OVPL, Bill Szulga Memorial match, monthly RAGC Free and/or Air Pistol match, etc.);
  3. If there are positions available on the firing line, other club members agreeing to the format of the group shooting .22 and .177 caliber ONLY. Member must have a restricted firearms license and their own firearm, unless they have an RO to sponsor them.
