Ian Fraser appointed CEO of the RA Centre
The RA’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer. Ian Fraser, a well-respected community leader, local entrepreneur and former elite triathlete is anticipated to take the helm on January 15, 2024, following a transition period over the coming months.
Ian comes to the RA from Run Ottawa where he has served as Executive Director and Race Director since 2019. Faced with the major challenge of a pandemic, Ian channeled his inner entrepreneur to completely rethink how Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend and the 12 or so other events Run Ottawa hosts each year would operate. Creative solutions included repositioning the brand, generating new sponsorship, partnership and e-commerce opportunities and diversifying revenue streams. Ian leaves behind a thriving non-profit organization and a strong legacy of actively serving the health and wellness needs of the community.
Born and raised in Ottawa, Ian is an alum of Carleton University. A multi-dimensional entrepreneur with a long history of community engagement and advocacy, Ian is the former owner and partner at Somersault Events, Human Power Performance and Cyclelogik. Ian volunteers on numerous not-for-profit association and organization boards such as Invest Ottawa, exemplifying the RA value of “Giving Back”.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Ian to our RA family.” said Karen Jackson, chair of the RA’s Board of Directors. "His wealth of experience, entrepreneurial skills and strategic leadership will ensure the RA continues to respond to the needs in our community."
“I am so excited to take on this leadership role and to have an opportunity to continue building community in our City” said Fraser. “I look forward to working with the RA’s Board of Directors, dedicated team of employees and volunteers to both honour the RA’s rich history and to create an innovative pathway for the future.”
Join us in welcoming Ian as he takes the torch and leads this 80-year-old not-for-profit association into the future.
